Susan, I've had a doe and two of her young in my back yard twice this week, and maybe more often, I'm just not looking. They're quite affectionate with one another. my neighbor and I have been hoping they'd spend the winter, but I'm not sure what Misty would think about sharing her domain with such big creatures. But it would be fun to see.
Thank you for the lovely photo, Susan - now I'm remembering my grandmother feeding deer with apples out of her hand as they came down the hill out of the woods to the lawn in front of her house.

And a few other things, less easily labeled. The title of this blog is a phrase John Clute used to describe the plots of my first two novels. It both amused and annoyed me, and I finally decided to reclaim it as a badge of honor. Would you prefer rickety contrivances of doing bad?
